21 Space Art Museum is committed to focusing on the regional art development and the uniqueness of art innovation as a key target of our research and presentation, as well as on the examination for their values and significances from a global perspective. Base on the above, 21 Space Art Museum has conducted an in-depth research into the contemporary art communities in Guangdong.

On the basis of this survey, we curate a group exhibition, entitled Visual Mix-1st Canton Contemporary Art Community Young Artists Group Exhibition, by displaying the characteristics of young artists’ creation. From the perspective of linguistic schema, their creation shows a multi-combination and presents integration through various visual effects, thoughts and background knowledge. From the constitution of art communities, the exhibited artists come from different disciplines of diverse backgrounds. Meanwhile, their art creation is closely related to their life. An individual system has been built by each of them, whereas visual creation only plays a small part in their works. This exhibition presents the personalities of each individual artists and shows a scenario of the art communities where they in.

It is the first episode of Figurative China project series launched by 21 Space Art Museum. Figurative China is, certainly, one kind of visual expression for the contemporary Chinese art. But more importantly, it reveals the general the phenomenon and micro issues about the society, thoughts and culture, in relation to the current situations in China. Therefore, our survey and presentation of art communities is certainly a part of this project series.
